Little Saigon Expedition: The Spirit of Resilience
Immerse yourself in the vibrant heartbeat of the largest Vietnamese enclave outside of Vietnam. Our expedition begins at the Vietnam War Memorial Park, a deeply significant landmark of community memory and pride. We will then walk through the bustling, multi-level aisles of the Asian Garden Mall (Phước Lộc Thọ), exploring traditional herbal medicine shops and exotic regional fruits. Along the way, we will stop to support local, family-owned bakeries for authentic Bánh Mì, followed by a curated multi-course lunch at a legendary neighborhood eatery to uncover the cultural history behind authentic Pho. We will conclude our journey at Mile Square Regional Park with a cup of traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, joining local elders for a live discussion on preserving heritage across generations.
Little Armenia Expedition: Crossroads of Heritage
Discover the deeply rooted heritage of the Armenian diaspora in East Hollywood. We will begin our journey at the Armenian Genocide Memorial Square and visit the historic St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church, exploring ancient Christian architecture, sacred art, and traditional Khachkars (cross-stones). Our route weaves through resilient minority-owned small businesses, from legacy bookstores preserving Armenian calligraphy to family-run spice markets. For lunch, we will gather for an authentic feast of traditional Khorovats (Armenian BBQ), fresh lavash, and homemade baklava. Our final chapter takes us to a local community space, where we will listen to the living language and engage in a meaningful dialogue with local artisans about keeping cultural identity alive in the heart of Los Angeles.
Tehrangeles (Little Persia) Expedition: The Persian Square
Journey to the elegant cultural heart of the Iranian diaspora, affectionately known as Tehrangeles. Our walking tour starts at Persian Square, exploring beautiful Persian bookstores filled with poetry, intricate rugs, and traditional musical instruments. We will meet local entrepreneurs whose families brought their craftsmanship to LA decades ago. For our culinary chapter, we will dine at a renowned family restaurant to savor saffron-infused Basmati rice, slow-cooked Fesenjan stew, and authentic Koobideh kabobs, topped off with traditional Persian rosewater and saffron ice cream. We will conclude in a quiet courtyard garden, listening to the poetic flow of the Farsi language and discussing art, exile, and cultural resilience with local community voices.
